The Alliance is a collection of the men we identify as representing our community’s leadership, men we trust to shape the culture and conversation within the Mentoring Men community. We give priority access, support, deeper engagement, and extra focus and encouragement to these men to help them be their best.
We may often refer to these as “Sages”, “Sigma males.” or men who are highly “Self-Actualized,” or on a journey to experience self-actualization.
What is a “Sage”?
A “Sage Man” typically refers to a man who embodies qualities associated with wisdom, experience, and insight. A Sage Man is often seen as someone who has accumulated knowledge and life lessons and who shares that wisdom with others. Sage Men are often sought out for advice and guidance, and they are respected for their deep understanding of life’s complexities.
What is a “Sigma Male?”
The concept of a “Sigma Male” is a term that has gained popularity in discussions about masculinity and personality types, especially in online communities. It’s important to note that the concept of Sigma Male is not a formally recognized or scientifically established psychological archetype but rather a construct that has emerged in internet subcultures.
In these discussions, a Sigma Male is often characterized as an independent, self-reliant individual who doesn’t conform to traditional social hierarchies or societal expectations. They are seen as free-thinkers who pursue their own path and have a strong sense of individualism.
Sigma Males are believed to be less interested in seeking social approval, leading a more solitary lifestyle (meaning less groupthink, not more isolationism), and focusing on their personal goals and values.
What is “Self-Actualization?”
Self-actualization is the process of realizing and fulfilling one’s potential, leading to personal growth, increased self-awareness, and the pursuit of one’s unique capabilities and talents.
A self-actualized person is someone who has reached a state of personal fulfillment, characterized by a deep understanding of themselves, a strong sense of purpose, and the pursuit of their highest potential and values. They often exhibit qualities such as creativity, independence, and a strong sense of ethics.
